A German Navy spokesman on Wednesday said there was “no deeper meaning” to one of their destroyer ships playing the “Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme)” that first debuted in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, while sailing up the Thames in London this week, Ars Technica reports.
Funny joke, specifically because the Empire drew a lot of inspiration from Nazi Germany, whose air force destroyed large swaths of London and killed thousands in bombing raids eight decades ago.
