Not that he’s trying to duplicate the incompetent record of the previous administration, but President Joe Biden reportedly reached an agreement with the government of Iraq to withdraw all US troops from the country by early 2026, the Washington Post reports.
The report made by Iraq’s Defense Minister Thabit al-Abbasi on al-Arabiya television calls for some of the 2,500 troops to start withdrawing later this year, with the last elements out in the first part of 2016. A contingent force will remain in Kurdistan, in northern Iraq, as part of a long-standing program to protect the Kurdish population.
