“I had to tell her that there is no hospital,” Lau’s daughter tearfully told Reuters over the phone about her mom’s final hours suffering terribly without oxygen in the refugee camp. Son-in-law Tin Win said they had relied on the aid and “whenever she got short of breath, I would carry her right away back to hospital and she would be fine. We are very poor people. I work as a day laborer. We can’t afford oxygen at home.” Win said at least several others in the refugee camp had died this week.
