(1) This should’ve been last night, but life gets in the way of National Zero sometimes.
(2) This movie should have been should not have been made. Or at least named as such. World War Z absolutely sucks as an adaptation of Max Brooks’s (son of Mel) seminal fictitious oral history of the zombie war. Seriously it’s a riveting, heartbreaking read that begged for a proper treatment in the form of a lengthy TV series. This movie does not do the book justice. Not even close.
(3) However, as strictly a zombie thriller, in a vacuum, World War Z is pretty freaking solid, even at a PG-13 rating. If it had been named War of the Dead or something, no fans of the book would have complained. Or even noticed, that’s how little of the source material’s plot had been adapted. The only one that sticks out, specifically set in Israel and how the country fortifies itself, is actually also the dumbest part of this movie given its lack of realism. Everything else was done very well.
