Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution she’s getting ready to officially launch a gubernatorial run to succeed term-limited Republican Brian Kemp, stepping up after Dem Congresswoman Lucy McBath stepped back from her exploratory committee due to her husband’s health issues. On one hand it’s one Black woman taking a lane cleared by another and potentially risky when Stacy Abrams lost twice in a row to Kemp, on the other it’s probably a sign of a real confidence surge for Dems, that the GOP brand will be so fucking toxic (again) by November 2026 that it’s worth a shot. On the GOP side, “RINO”-ish Attorney General Chris Carr and insurrectionist Lt Gov Burt Jones are expected to step up to the plate.
