“Rep Cory Mills (R-Fla), a rising star in Republican circles and on TV news, told Blaze News he was married by a radical Muslim cleric but did not realize it at the time,” says the lede to the Glenn Beck-founded outlet’s interview of the incel-ish far right congressman and boy, it’s a doozy, lol.
Wanted to cram into the headline that it had also ended with him threatening to sue Blaze but there’s only so much space here and we’ll get to that part. But going in a straight line down the far right media outlet’s takedown of the seemingly increasingly imperiled MAGA Floridian – coming just days after NOTUS got at least two soldiers Mills served with on the record to say his Bronze Star was based on false tellings of his service on Iraqi battlefields – it seems that the 44 year-old Mills technically hasn’t been cheating on his wife with extremely attractive 27 year-old “Iranians for Trump” activist Sarah Raviani as he’s supposedly been separated from and in the process of divorcing Rana Al Saadi, a naturalized US citizen from Iraq. The relationship with Raviani – who Mills is credibly alleged to have assaulted but Acting DC US Attorney Ed Martin killed the investigation and refused to sign an arrest warrant – wasn’t a secret to his staff or others in Republican politics.
“After looking into the domestic disturbance call, Blaze News obtained and verified the marriage certificate with the state of Virginia. It cites the officiant as being a radical Islamic mufti named Mohammed Al-Hanooti, the former imam for the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center, reputed to be the most extremist mosque in America,” Blaze Media writes and it’s important to keep in mind here that National Zero is not endorsing any of these claims about the mosque so much as enjoying what just may be a tipping point against Mills within the MAGAverse. They claim Al-Hanooti “is perhaps best known for being an unindicted co-conspirator in both the 2008 Holy Land Foundation Hamas financing trial and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing plot,” and maybe he is, maybe he isn’t. As long as the fanboys believe it and they turn against Mills it’s fine. They might as well believe that he’s secretly transgender and was born Cora Mills for all any Dem voter should care, lol.
And yeah, Cory’s feeling that heat. “It’s pretty pathetic. This attempt has been used so many times, and it’s baffling to me. Not to mention the fact that I am a Christian — I’m not an Islamophobic. I’ve lived in Middle Eastern cultures. I think that the radicalized stuff is pretty harmful and disgusting, but I would say that on any side of things. But this has been attempted so many times. And it’s just downright offensive at this point,” he told Blaze, who then notes that this is to their knowledge the first time anyone’s ever asked him about it. They then note that they found on the mosque’s website a requirement that every person married by its clerics be a practicing Muslim, a rule that was suddenly removed without explanation after they called and asked about Mills and the requirement.
Lol. There’s only so many times “lol” should be written in these articles but lol at that and especially the next part: “At least one associate of Mills, speaking on background for fear of reprisal, told Blaze News that Mills became a practicing Muslim after marrying Al Saadi.” Having difficulty writing this.
Mills disclaimed any knowledge of the rule. “I don’t know the damn guy. I didn’t have a relationship with the guy, so I can’t tell you anything other than the fact that he was sick,” Mills told Blaze. They note Al-Hanooti died within a year after signing the certificate. “I don’t know anything about his involvement in the co-conspirator thing. And then he died – I think, I don’t know – months later.”
The MAGA Congressman then spun some story about his 2014 nuptuals being a shotgun wedding because Al Saadi couldn’t return home to Iraq to visit a dying relative without a marriage certificate and her first husband who still lives there was a piece of shit who could’ve legally forced her back in with him and that Al-Hanooti was “the only Iraqi imam that her mom could get in contact with who would do this for us,” and blah blah blah whatever. Angry fanboys probably aren’t going to buy that.
“Blaze News reached out to Robert Spencer, the founder and editor of Jihad Watch and one of the country’s foremost experts on radical Islam, on whether Mills could have been married there without converting to Islam,” and of course Spencer says it’s all bullshit so no reason to paste that in here, though further down he allows that maybe Mills just yesed his way through the whole thing without realizing he was converting to Islam. Lololololololololol enough. Too much unintentional comedy…
Now for the lawsuit threat: “Mills bristled at being asked about the marriage certificate and his religion, and he referred to his lawyers throughout the interview. He accused Blaze News of rushing the article and engaging in ‘fake news.’ When asked if he was threatening Blaze News, he said, ‘I don’t think it’s threatening with lawsuits, but I think that when there’s defamation, libel, malice, and slander, then we need to basically make sure that that’s something that’s on notice, right?’ He ended his rant on the matter by saying, ‘But you can call it a threat or whatever you like. Please go ahead.'”
Then there’s a whole other thing about corruption and shady foreign deals for Mills’s military equipment manufacturing firm which is about as interesting as watching pro golf, at least relative to the Islam shit. The only thing as funny about it is that now suddenly a Republican Congressman’s grift is a problem but literally only after they go over how they suspect he’s secretly a Muslim and have more evidence of it than they ever did for Barack Obama. Also funny about the article is the cameo by Anthony Sabatini, National Zero’s favorite MAGA former Florida state lawmaker, who lost to Mills in the 2022 FL-7 primary. He brought up the marriage certificate repeatedly during the primary, only to be called a “bigot” and for a pro-Mills MAGAchurch pastor to claim that Al Saadi went “to a Jesuit Catholic school,” “graduated from Georgetown,” and is Catholic.
