Still stuck in a hellish Louisiana gulag, Columbia grad student Mahmoud Khalil was permitted to hold his 1 month-old infant son inside the facility on Thursday, the AP reports. Their first meeting after a federal judge ordered him to be permitted the contact rather than separated by plexiglass, which was ICE’s preferred medium because, they claimed “granting Khalil this relief of family visitation would effectively grant him a privilege that no other detainee receives,” the Trump regime DOJ lawyers wrote in a court filing Wednesday. “Allowing [wife] Dr [Noor] Abdalla and a newborn to attend a legal meeting would turn a legal visitation into a family one.” Great argument, assholes.
An ICE stormtrooper wrote an affidavit saying it’d be “unsafe to allow Mr Khalil’s wife and newborn child into a secured part of the facility,” which sure sounded like an admission that if it isn’t safe for a grown woman then it wouldn’t be safe for a grown man either. Even better argument, assholes.
