The Trump Regime’s Commerce Department on Wednesday ordered tech companies including Cadence, Synopsys and Siemens EDA among others to halt the sales of their semiconductor design software to Chinese buyers, the Financial Times reports. An official told FT they’re “reviewing exports of strategic significance to China. In some cases, [the department] has suspended existing export licenses or imposed additional license requirements while the review is pending.”
Wow. Sounds like an actual smart, strategic move to slow the ChiComs’ quest for tech dominance, and something that maybe might work better than trying to onshore jobs assembling Barbie dolls.
