Japan’s Justice Ministry on Friday announced they had canceled Takahiro Shiraishi, aka “the Twitter Killer,” convicted in 2020 of murdering and dismembering nine people – eight of them women or teenage girls – most of whom had posted suicidal thoughts on social media, the AP reports.
Cops said Shiraishi approached the victims on Twitter, offering to assist them with their suicidal thoughts. He murdered the three teen girls and five women after raping them, also killing the boyfriend of one of the women in order to silence him. “The case caused the extremely serious outcomes and dealt a major shockwave and unease to the society,” Justice Minister Keisuke Suzuki told reporters after signing the death warrant earlier this week.
