Following the unexplained rejection of attempts to redraw the state’s congressional maps to be more favorable to Dems by the state Supreme Court, a coalition of Wisconsin Dems are trying again, this time looking to make their way up through lower courts to flip two seats blue, the AP reports.
“Anti‐competitive gerrymanders are every bit as antithetical to democracy, and to law, as partisan gerrymanders and racial gerrymanders,” the lawsuit from the Wisconsin Business Leaders for Democracy argues, adding “This is because electoral competition is as vital to democracy as partisan fairness” as the average margin in each House race is more than 30 percent.
