Locked out of revenge against Republican fuckery in other states by their own naive failures of imagination, Dems on the New York state legislature are setting up two possibilities for a pre-2028 gerrymander, Politico reports. The two amendments, the first a pretty tame reworking of the state’s independent redistricting commission and the second a much more aggressive path to nuking at least four of the seven GOP-held seats, could are being introduced on Friday to stay in the warmer.
Just keep firing the pistols back and forth until detente. This year’s going to get ugly for the GOP in a lot of state legislatures, they talk a lot of shit about aggressively gerrymandering before 2028 but that assumes they’re going to hold onto the state capitols they have now. Not a safe assumption.
