Democratic Oregon Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici and her husband, Michael Simon, were struck by a car while crossing a street in Portland, with Bonamici needing hospitalization to treat her injuries, NBC News reports.
Bonamici and Simon were crossing the street at a corner after leaving an event when a turning car traveling at low speed struck them. Bonamici was briefly hospitalized for a concussion and a laceration to her head; she’s since been discharged. Her husband was treated for minor injuries at the scene. The couple are recovering at home, and Bonamici has canceled two townhall meetings she had scheduled this week.
