On the political side of things the MAGA Republican Party didn’t have that bad of a day at least as far as Manhattan goes. True, Marjorie Taylor Greene’s piss-poor planning ruined her stupid rally for Trump. The dumbass claimed the libs ruined it for her, which is bullshit. They didn’t get anywhere near her. She could have easily stood in the back of a pickup truck equipped with a loudspeaker to give her speech. Instead she stepped out into the street and got mobbed by reporters.

But enough of what happened outside the courthouse and more about inside… Trump was not slapped with a gag order. His charges were more or less what was expected. Crucially the statement of facts did not allege any hush money payouts to anyone besides Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels. Yeah, the doorman and the baby out of wedlock is mentioned but aside from establishing a pattern it’s pretty much a dead end. Before Tuesday it was easy to imagine that there might have been more and possibly worse situations covered up. Like could you picture the explosion of rage from MAGA world if Bragg alleged that the Cohen-AMI pipeline also paid off one or more of Ivanka’s friends who said Trump sexually assaulted them when they were in 10th grade or something like that? The fanboys would be out of their minds right now… well extra out of their minds.

Stormy and McDougal are already priced in with voters and it’s really hard to see anyone getting moved one way or another after Tuesday’s events. Trump fans can and should find some measure of solace in that there was no further damage done to their Orange Allah’s already sleazy image.

Legally is another story. The vibe from the smart lawyer people seems to be that Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is presenting a very solid case on the facts while on the law it’s still a relatively narrow path to a conviction that will hold up on appeal. A guilty verdict is an abstraction for the fanboys and will be for a long time. If and when it does come – and doesn’t get overturned on appeal before the 2024 election, if ever – that will be a very bad day politically in MAGAmerica.
