According to US intelligence community estimates, the Kremlin has lost 87% of the troops–roughly seven out of eight soldiers–that were in the Russian ground forces since the beginning of its invasion of Ukraine, CNN reports, with an additional estimate that two-thirds of the tanks in its inventory are destroyed.
It’s not coincidental that this assessment was released on the day that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the White House and Capitol Hill to push for continued aid to Ukraine and President Biden announced $200 million in additional assistance.
