Unsurprisingly, the Department of Justice said it would not prosecute Attorney General Merrick Garland for contempt of Congress for his refusal to turn over the audio tapes of interviews with President Joe Biden for the Special Counsel investigation into a handful of unauthorized government documents found on his private property, the Associated Press reports.
The DOJ had already turned over a complete transcript of the interview, done by Republican Special Counsel Robert Hur, and the White House has claimed executive privilege to deny House Republicans the audio, which they intended to release after editing it, presumably.
