Treasury Suckretary Scott Bessent on Sunday told CNN’s Jake Tapper that he’s spoken with Walmart leadership who told him that the retail behemoth would be “absorbing some of the tariffs” but “some may get passed on to consumers,” kind of ignoring his boss convicted felon President Trump’s assertion that Walmart was just making shit up out of greed. Bessent also lamely defended the Qatar Force One scam with “the Statue of Liberty was a gift,” after which Tapper did not press him on the part that the jet would in 2029 be transferred to Trump’s presidential library for his continued, indefinite personal use. Maybe Tapper was distracted by all the hype surrounding his new book about the media conspiracy to cover up how old Joe Biden was.
