George Zimmer, the founder of menswear retailer The Men’s Wearhouse, spoke out in support of Democrats’ plan to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2025, saying this isn’t a partisan issue, “it’s an American issue.” For the group Patriotic Millionaires, Zimmer calls the current $7.25 rate “an immoral abomination” and “an embarrassment to all Americans,” saying that increasing the minimum wage will add more money to the US economy as those at the lowest pay start becoming customers of other businesses.
