“A scared cat, a cop who happened to be in the right place at the right time, an odd rush-hour traffic scene. And a happy ending. South Bend Police Officer Chris Voros was driving along Lafayette Boulevard, just south of Stull Street, at about 5 p.m. Wednesday when a kitten darted into the road and in front of his cruiser. He got out to try to help the cat but it camped out beneath his vehicle. Voros tried to coax the cat out. ‘Here, kitty, kitty,’ he called out a few times. He tried a stick to lure it out. The wayward kitten hopped into a wheel well at one point before hopping back down. Bystanders eventually stopped to help and, a few minutes later, success: the cat emerged, and Voros and his helpers were able to corral it. Voros wrapped the kitten in a towel after it was in his grasp. The cop placed the kitten in his back seat and drove off” – South Bend Tribune.
