Moderna announced Wednesday its lower-dose COVID-19 vax was found to be safe and at least partially effective in children under 5, including babies, as it seeks emergency use authorization from the FDA to dose basically the last set of Americans ineligible to be inoculated against the virus, the New York Times reports. “What we have seen is a successful trial. What I will say is 37.5 percent and 43.7 percent are higher than zero,” said Moderna VP Dr. Jacqueline Miller. “If I were the parent of a young child, I would want there to be some protection on board, especially if we see another wave of infections.” Miller said the dose does not help protect against the Omicron variant.
