Right wing Monroe County, New York District Attorney Sandra Doorley found some very unique and interesting ways to make herself look like a complete asshole over her handling of last week’s stabbing attempt on MAGA Congressman and New York gov candidate Lee Zeldin before she recused herself from what should’ve been an open and shut case, the Albany Times-Union reports.

First is that Zeldin on Monday claimed that Doorley – who was present for the attempted attack on Thursday – told him immediately afterward that she would have to recuse because she was a witness. That story is completely different from the reason Doorley told the Times Union, which was that the state district attorney’s association’s ethics guidelines prohibit its members from participating in other politicians’ campaigns, after which the Times Union found that Zeldin’s website listed Doorley as an honorary co-chair as recently as April before it was scrubbed. Doorley later changed her story about the timeline and then blah blah blah she’s lying.

Worse however is the propaganda scam she pulled for the MAGA crowd. The attacker, a disturbed veteran named David Jakubonis, was released after being charged – something the Fox News circlejerkers and Zeldin himself said was due to bail reform and libs soft on crime and so on and so forth. The problem for Doorley however is that her office consulted with the Monroe County Sheriff’s office and knew they were going to charge Jakubonis with 2nd degree attempted assault, a felony classified as non-violent and for which all offenders are released without bail.

Even worse is that it’s rarely charged in Monroe County, so someone went out of their way to stage this “bail reform” bullshit. Doorley made no effort to intervene and have Jakubonis locked up before trial or have the charge upgraded, so at the very least she was complicit in this scam.
