Utah County, Utah DA Jeff Gray on Tuesday confirmed his office will seek the death penalty against Tyler Robinson in the assassination of MAGA activist Charlie Kirk, CBS News reports.

This court will focus on the intent element that both sides appear to emphasize – the intimidation or coercion of a civilian population.”

Good on Geoff Duncan for doing what pretty much nobody else at such a high level of Republican politics has had the balls to do. There could and should have been so many more campaigns like this over the last decade and only now in goddamned 2025 is there ONE notable former Republican-turned-Dem actually running for a major statewide office. Whether he can actually pull off a Dem primary win when former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has already declared is a question for Georgia politics geeks, but simply launching a bid on the other team is significant on its own.
