Florida leapfrogged past Texas to the top spot, with more than 11,000 cases, the second-highest daily increase recorded by the state. California saw the third-highest increase.
The 7-day running average of new cases in the US has increased for 31 consecutive days. With 413 coronavirus deaths per million citizens, the US ranks seventh worldwide in fatalities per capita among nations with 100,000 or more citizens.
