USA Today reports that the Speaker of the Ohio House Larry Householder and four others connected to the state republican Party have been arrested by federal agents as part of investigation into a $60 million bribery scam.
Householder’s home was raided earlier Tuesday as part of the investigation, National Zero reported earlier.
The four other people arrested were: Neil Clark from Grant Street Consultants, a lobbying firm in Columbus; former Ohio republican Party chair and consultant Matthew Borges; Juan Cespedes, co-founder of The Oxley Group, a lobbying group in Columbus; and an advisor to Householder, Jeffrey Longsteth.
US Attorney for Southern Ohio David DeVillers will hold a press conference later today to detail the charges, but a spokeswoman for the Office said the charges involve “public corruption racketeering conspiracy involving $60 million.”
