Tucked into the $1 trillion coronavirus relief bill put forth by the republican members of the Senate is a section that provides $8 billion for payment to defense contractors to pay for things like F-35 fighters, Apache helicopters and a missile defense system for California and Alaska, reports the AP.
Jim Jordan’s House district would also benefit from a $375 million contract to upgrade Stryker combat vehicles. Senator Martha McSally would finally get the $650 million she’s been seeking to replace the wings of A-10 attack aircraft stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, in McSally’s home state of Arizona, where she faces an uphill reelection battle against astronaut Mark Kelly.
McSally could also brag about $283 million more for Boeing’s Army Apache helicopters, which are made in Mesa, Arizona.
Of course, the bill also funds $1.8 billion for the rebuilding of the FBI headquarters in downtown Washington, when agency officials and others had recommended a move to suburban Maryland. Rebuilding on the same location prevents the development of the site into a hotel, which would compete with Trump’s hotel, one block away.
