Pastor Perry Cleek of Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church in Jonesborough, Tennessee reportedly tested positive for coronavirus one week after attending a White House roundtable with President Trump, WVLT CBS-8 reports.
Cleek was invited to the White House after media reports that his congregation gave $1,000 to each of his town’s police officers.
He tested negative during mandatory White House testing prior to the event, but less than a week after returning home, the pastor started to exhibit symptoms of the coronavirus.
“It started with a really severe cough that lasted two or three days but it’s mostly gone,” Cleek told WJHL, another Tennessee television station. “It is a serious illness…and it is very contagious.”
Cleek cancelled in-person services at his church until he recovers and is self-quarantining.
