The US State Department has lifted its complete advisory against international travel, opting to issue warnings on a nation-by-nation basis, as the threat of coronavirus subsides in many other nations, USA Today reports.
The State Department had warned travelers to avoid international journeys as the virus swept across the globe, infecting nearly 20 million people. With many nations, particularly in Europe, seeing flattened infection curves, the threat from the virus has been reduced.
The March 19th advisory suggest Americans “do not travel” internationally–what’s known as a Level 4 advisory–and will be a Level 3 warning: “reconsider travel.”
Many European nations, however, continue to bar Americans from direct travel to their countries given the widespread outbreaks in the United States.
