According to the Johns Hopkins University tracking project, Global coronavirus cases surpassed 20 million Tuesday as the virus continued its spread with massive outbreaks in South America and India as well as continued spread throughout the United States.
Two days after the US topped 5 million cases nationally, one quarter of the world’s total, the global count hit the 20 million milestone as Brazil and India surge to the top of the daily reported cases.
Two-thirds of new cases reported since July 22nd, when the world hit 15 million cases, have been logged in the United States, Brazil and India.
Also today, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his government has approved the first vaccine. Putin claimed one of his adult daughters had been inoculated and that she now has “a high number of antibodies,” according to Associated Press reporting.
Western scientists, however, caution about rushing a vaccine that hasn’t been thoroughly tested into the public. There is no documentation available to confirm the testing process for the Russian vaccine.
