In Wednesday’s media briefing, President Trump introduced Dr. Scott Atlas as a “expert in the field” respected by everyone on the coronavirus task force as he tried to make the case for having a college football season and starting in-person school classes.
Atlas is a neuroradiologist who is a Professor and Chief of Neuroradiology at Stanford University Medical Center. He is also a Fox “News” contributor and a member of the Hoover Institute, a conservative policy think tank. He is not a virologist, nor does he have any background public health.
Atlas joined the administration as an advisor two days ago.
In other statements, Trump claimed that he would eliminate payroll taxes, saying that social security would be paid through “the general fund.” He claimed that many “esteemed economists have wanted to do this for a long time.” He offered no names of economists.
Trump claimed that Biden will quadruple regulations. There is no basis for this claim.
