Meteorologists are working to confirm a 130 degree Fahrenheit temperature recorded in Death Valley National Park in California Sunday, one of the highest temperatures ever recorded in history, according to the Associated Press.
The scorching temperature was recorded at the aptly named Furnace Creek near the park’s visitors center. It was documented by an automated monitoring system and needs to be confirmed.
The highest temperature ever recorded is 134 degrees Fahrenheit, recorded at the same location July 10, 1913.
