Republican Colin Powell addressed the Democratic National Convention, talking about Joe Biden’s commitment to troops.
Powell discussed his background as a child of immigrant parents coming from Jamaica and how he worked his way up through the military to become Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Talking about the similarities between his and Biden’s upbringing in a working-class family and the values they instilled, Powell said “I support Joe Biden for the president of the United states, because those values define him, and we need those values in the White House.”
“Joe Biden will be a president we will all be proud to salute,” Powell said discussing the military community. “With Joe Biden as our president, we will know he will stand with our allies and up to our adversaries.”
Powell said he would hear Vice President Biden say, “We lead both by the power of our leadership and the leadership of our power.”
And he took a shot at Trump: “What a difference it will make to have a president who unites us.”
