A World War II vet who parachuted into Germany and a Marine who was deployed for multiple tours in the Middle East led the segment on Joe Biden’s commitment to the military and our veterans.
Jill Biden said, “Joe said’ ‘We have one sacred obligations: to take care of our military members.'” She noted that many vets and their spouses have lost their jobs during the coronavirus recession.
Tammy Duckworth, a former Army helicopter pilot and unit commander who lost both legs in the Iraq war, talked about the importance of supporting not just the military members themselves, but also their spouses and children.
Calling Trump the “coward in chief,” she noted Trump “doesn’t read briefings, cowers to Putin and won’t even stand up to those who put bounties on US troops.” Unlike Trump, she said, “Joe Biden has common decency; he had common sense.”
Duckworth finished with: “Donald Trump doesn’t deserve to call himself Commander-in-Chief for another four minutes, let alone another four years.”
The segment finished with a tribute to Joe Biden’s late son, Beau, an Army veteran.
