After a two day respite at the beginning of the week, the United States continued a five day streak recording more than 1,000 coronavirus fatalities, according to data collected by the COVID Tracking Project.
While other sources such as worldometers.info have the US topping 180,000, data aggregators are more accurately putting the US death toll from coronavirus in the mid-170,000 range. It will likely exceed 180,000 during this week’s republican National Convention.
New daily American coronavirus figures average 50,000 daily, with hotspots including traditional “red states” like Florida, Texas, Alabama and Georgia.
