In the list of convention speakers for the republican National Convention slated to start Monday, more than 10% of the scheduled speakers are members of the Trump family or the people they’re sleeping with, and there are barely more Black people than Trump family members.
Of the 69 announced speaking slots at the 2020 RNC, eight will be taken up by members of the Trump Family (including Kimberly Guilfoyle, the current bedmate of Donald Jr. and someone collecting $15,000 monthly from the Trump campaign).
Ten Black people are scheduled to speak, including one of the only two Black republican member of Congress, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina. (The other Black republican, Will Hurd of Texas, is not seeking reelection.) One, Ja’Ron Smith, is a White House assistant.
Only one 2016 presidential candidate is on the speakers list, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who called Trump a “fake conservatives” and an “orange windbag.”
