“When I stood on this convention stage four years ago,” Ewic Trump said in his introduction, “no one could understand the historic change that was about to take place.”
[FACT CHECK: Ewic is standing in an empty auditorium. The republican National Convention ended officially Monday at 2 p.m.]
Ewic took up the aggrieved cause of “destroying the monuments of our forefathers,” apparently referring to the movement to remove statues and honors for people who promoted slavery and/or fought for the secessionist Confederacy.
[FACT CHECK: Ewic’s great-grandfather is from Germany. His grandmother is from Scotland. His mother is from the former nation of Czechoslovakia. He had no forefathers who fought in the Confederacy.]
After listing a number of freedoms he believes Democrats want to remove from America (which is complete nonsense) so he could frame it as a war, Ewic said, “This is a fight that we are in right now, and it is a fight only my father can win.”
That, of course, is laughable.
“[The media] ignored mocked these patriots in the ‘flyover states’ in which they lived,” Ewic said making air quotes.
[FACT CHECK: To the best of my knowledge, this Manhattan-raised, prep-schooled educated Georgetown alum didn’t have a photo taken in a “fly over state” prior to the 2016 campaign.]
Ewic then went on a screed talking about Trump’s claimed accomplishments with the economy and with foreign policy, never once mentioning the current recession or the fact that his father kowtows to Putin and North Korea.
“Every day,” Ewic said, “my father fights for the American people…”
[FACT CHECK: Trump has made more than at one of his golf course 288 times since his inauguration.]
“… the forgotten man and woman of this country, the ones who embody the American spirit, which is unlike anything else in the world. It build the New York City skyline. It built the Hoover Dam. And soon, under my father’s leadership, it will send Americans to Mars.”
[FACT CHECK: Immigrants build the New York City skyline, including undocumented Polish workers employed to work on Trump Towers. Plus, the earliest a manned mission to Mars can occur is 2024, and it’s planned by SpaceX, not NASA.]
Ewic ended by saying, “I love you very much.”
[FACT CHECK: Meh.]
