While Tucker Carlson touts Trump endorsements from six small-town Minnesota mayors, scores of high-level republicans, including former governors, Cabinet secretaries and members of Congress, Reuters reports.
Joining groups like the Lincoln Project and 43 Alumni for Biden (comprised of hundreds of people who served under George W. Bush), “Republicans and Independents for Biden” is led by Christine Todd Whitman, the former governor of New Jersey and Bush EPA head.
“Biden is a decent man, he’s a steady man,” Whitman told Reuters. “Trump is trying to paint the world of Joe Biden as horrific – but that’s Trump’s America now.”
Whitman noted that Trump has worked against core conservative principles by violating key Constitutional tenets such as ignoring the rule of law and dividing the nation across racial lines. She also cited Trump’s lack of response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The group includes more than 100 republican leaders, including former governors Bill Weld (Massachusetts) and Rick Snyder (Michigan).
“Republicans and Independents for Biden” is affiliated and partially funded by the Lincoln Project.
