White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who was in close quarters with a number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus within the last ten days, had a meltdown and refused to talk to reporters who asked him to keep his mask on when answering questions.
On the way to the Senate hearing room for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, Meadows stopped to talk to the press. He picked up a microphone stand and moved it farther away from the press gaggle, and he started to take off his mask.
“Let me pull this away. That way I can take this off,” he said.
“No, can you please keep it on?” CNN reporter Kristin Wilson asked, concerned because Meadows works in an office where the last person was confirmed with coronavirus just six days ago.
“I’m more than 10 feet away,” he whined, but reporters again asked him to keep it on.
Indignantly, Meadows walked away, stunned that anyone would ask him to think of the safety of others. “I’m not going to talk through a mask,” Meadows said as he stomped away.
