According to the Wall Street Journal, Saudi officials have exchanged 200 Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen for two Americans held by the rebel group and the remains of a third who was killed by the terrorists.
The Journal reports two Royal Oman Air Force planes flew the militants held in Yemen to Sana’a, the Houti-occupied of Yemen. They returned carrying the two Americans and the body of the third.
The deal was approved by the Trump Administration.
Saudi officials took the step as a show of good faith for future talks to resolve the long-running Yemeni civil war, in which the Saudi government is supporting the presidency of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is in exile in Saudi Arabia.
