Biden defeats Trump in preliminary Thursday night ratings

Cue a Trump meltdown.

In a metric Trump believes is the sign of true momentum, the ratings for Thursday night’s dueling town halls are in, and Trump lost.

Reported by TheWrap, Nielsen overnights show that Biden got 12.7 million viewers in the 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET timeslot on ABC, versus just 10.4 million for Trump on NBC.

ABC aired Biden’s townhall live coast-to-coast, but NBC delayed airing of Trump’s event on the West Coast until 8 p.m. local time, which should have given Trump a ratings boost. It aired live on cable simulcasts on MSNBC and CNBC on the West Coast.

Biden also beat Trump among adults age 18-49, with a 2.6 rating to the Trump’s 1.7 rating. Cable viewership numbers will be available later today.
