The Johns Hopkins COVID tracker data aggregator shows that the United States topped eight million confirmed coronavirus cases Friday afternoon.

The US has the most confirmed coronavirus cases and the most fatalities due to the virus in the world.

On February 26th, when the United States had just 16 confirmed cases, President Trump declared that the US would be “close to zero” cases “in just a few days.” He missed it by *that* much.
