The Republican governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, has refused to implement significant mandatory public health guidelines statewide as the coronavirus sweeps through the state, infected tens of thousands of people. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick seems more intent on overturning the result of the presidential election–which Democratic President-elect Joe Biden won–than helping the people of his state.
In Congress, Republicans continue to block efforts to pass the HEROES Act, which would provide a second round of financial relief to tens of millions of Americans.
