Conservative muckraking group Project Veritas secured more than half a million dollars in bailout money from the Paycheck Protection Program, designed to help at-risk companies maintain their workers’ employment, a program accountability website posted.
Currently making a small ripple on Fox News because of recorded CNN editorial planning calls, Project Veritas has just seven employees, according to its LinkedIn corporate profile. That would amount to roughly $80,000 per year in compensation for each employee of the well-funded organization.
Many of the people who list Project Veritas as their employer on LinkedIn also have other concurrent employment, such as real estate agents. Two are legal advisors. Russell Verney is listed as Executive Director, he lives in Indianapolis, hundreds of miles away from the Project Veritas office in New York.
The address listed on the application is a non-descript building formerly registered to a company called “Secure Wave Technologies” as lately as February 2020. The address listed on Project Veritas’ website is box at a UPS Store at the Seaport Plaza in Mamaroneck, New York.
Project Veritas doesn’t publicly list how many employees it has, but in past sting operations, the people involved set up GoFundMe sites claiming to be “whistleblowers,” indicating that they were contracted by the James O’Keefe run operation, not employees.
