Parler will potentially go offline Sunday at midnight Pacific Time due to Amazon informing the the social media platform favored by conservatives, chaos agents and insurrectionists that it will no longer host the app, BuzzFeedNews reports.
“Recently, we’ve seen a steady increase in this violent content on your website, all of which violates our terms. It’s clear that Parler does not have an effective process to comply with the AWS terms of service,” the email from the AWS Trust and Safety team told Parler Chief Policy Officer Amy Peikoffreads. “[W]e cannot provide services to a customer that is unable to effectively identify and remove content that encourages or incites violence against others,” the email reads. “Because Parler cannot comply with our terms of service and poses a very real risk to public safety, we plan to suspend Parler’s account effective Sunday, January 10th, at 11:59 PM PST.”
Funded by the Mercer family, a clan that supports far-right efforts to undermine federal authority, Parler has been promoted by Donald Trump and his family, as well as other conservatives because it does not moderate comments and allows users to post threats of violence, bigotry and hatred.
Brian Fung of CNN reports that AWS identified nearly 100 specific incidents where Parler users posted threats of violence, to which Parler refused to moderate.
Conservatives have had a tough weekend relating to their social media accounts. Donald Trump has his Facebook account suspended and his Twitter account deleted. Hundreds of QAnon accounts were frozen or deleted. Parler was taken off the Apple and Google Play stores.
