Dr. Brian Monahan, Congress’s attending physician, warned members of Congress to be particularly aware of coronavirus symptoms after the members huddled closely together and many refused to wear masks during the recent attack on the Capitol by Trump supporters.
The notice from Monahan implies that one of the people in the room has tested positive for the coronavirus, but it does not state so explicitly.
The notice, posted by Jake Sherman of NBC News, states that “The time in the room was several hours for some and briefer for others. During that time, individuals may have been exposed to another occupant with coronavirus.”
Monahan recommends that members continue to undergo daily symptom monitoring and get a PCR test in the coming week.
