Five people and an unborn child were killed Sunday in a mass shooting at a home in Indianapolis, Mayor Joe Hogsett announced. No suspect or identify has been identified, NBC News reports.
Police were first alerted to the incident when a juvenile male was found shot on a road at 4 a.m. local time. He is expected to survive. All the victims are thought to be members of the same family.
“What happened this morning was a mass murder. A choice of an individual or individuals to bring, and I do not use these words lightly, terror to our community,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “Today Indianapolis has lost much. Including an unborn life. Justice will be done.”
