A Wisconsin judge ruled that Kenosha killer Kyle Rittenhouse will not be required to submit a higher bail and will not be arrested for failing to tell the Court that he changed residences, the Chicago Tribune reports.
An Illinois resident, Rittenhouse is required to stay in Wisconsin as part of his bail. He was photographed in a Wisconsin bar in January, drinking beer, flashing White Power handsigns, and mingling with members of the Proud Boys. Although Rittenhouse is only 18-years-old, he was allowed to drink in the bar because, adhering to Wisconsin law, he was with his mother.
Police attempted to confirm Rittenhouse’s location by going to the address listed on his bail form, but found someone else had been living at the location, reportedly for more than a month.
Prosecutors requested a higher bail because the $2 million raised for his release was raised by outside individuals and Rittenhouse would have no loss if he were to jump bail. Celebrities like MyPillow founder and martial law enthusiast Mike Lindell and former child actor Ricky Schroeder are two people who contributed to the fund to raise money to release him.
Rittenhouse, then 17-years-old, had his mother drive him to Kenosha, Wisconsin to, he claims, defend private property from vandals during protests following local police shooting an unarmed Black man, Jacob Blake. He illegally obtained an AR-15 assault rifle, which he had a local friend buy for him from a Wisconsin gun store. While he was in Kenosha, he shot three people, killing two of them. Rittenhouse then fled back to Illinois, where he was arrested and extradited to Wisconsin. He is charged with multiple counts of homicide, reckless endangerment and attempted homicide.
