Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis threatened to pull a vaccine distribution site from Manatee County after media reported he gave special favor to a local wealthy development exclusive access to the location, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

DeSantis and Manatee County Commission Vanessa Baugh limited access to the distribution to residents of two wealthy ZIP codes, raising the ire of people in the surrounding neighborhoods, which include Tampa and Sarasota.
After reports of the pop-up site at wealthy Lakewood Ranch community became public, DeSantis called a press conference in which he threatened to pull the site because of the criticism.
“But look, if Manatee County doesn’t like us doing this, then we are perfectly fine with putting this in counties that want it, and we’re totally happy to do that,” DeSantis said, oblivious to the reason people were objecting to the operation of the site.
