Donald Trump has scheduled about a dozen interviews in the coming weeks with journalists and authors who are penning books about his presidency, many of them follow-ups of books that were highly critical of Trump.
According to Politico, Trump will welcome a parade of writers to his Mar-a-Lago residence where he will spend hours in interviews, obviously trying to spin the disastrous last year of his term and his subsequent ouster by voters.
Among those scheduled: The New York Times’ Jeremy Peters as well as Maggie Haberman; The Wall Street Journal’s Michael Bender; ABC News’ Chief Washington Correspondent Jon Karl; “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” author Michael Wolff; and Washington Post journalists Philip Rucker and Carol Leonnig. Aides stress that Trump could pull out of any meeting he chooses.
Some of those on the list are curious choices for Trump, given that he insulted most of them. Of Michael Wolff, Trump tweeted on January 5th, 2018, after Wolff’s “Fire & Fury” was released: “Michael Wolff is a total loser who made up stories in order to sell this really boring and untruthful book. He used Sloppy Steve Bannon, who cried when he got fired and begged for his job.”
