Angry with the league’s decision to move the All-Star Game out of Atlanta because the state of Georgia passed oppressive voter laws, a number of Republican Senators have crafted legislation that would strip Major League Baseball of its antitrust exemption, the Washington Post reports.
“MLB and woke mega-corporations have been coddled by government for too long,” Missouri Senator Josh Hawley said in a statement. “For decades, the MLB has been given a sweetheart deal by Washington politicians. But if they’d prefer to be partisan political activists instead, maybe it’s time to rethink that.”
Hawley was joined in sponsoring the Senate legislation with Mike Lee of Utah, Ted Cruz of Texas, Marco Rubio of Florida and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee.
Major League Baseball has an antitrust exemption which allows it to bypass certain federal laws and provides it with protections from claims that it operates a monopoly. Of course, this is part of a global cabal as Eric Bolling of OAN sussed out:
