Man without intelligence (and person who’s just burning the cocaine that’s stored in his fat cells, allegedly) Donald Trump, Jr. took to a Fox News Propaganda Hour to boast about how funny he was in saying President Joe Biden isn’t the next FDR, but instead is the next Jimmy Carter.
“Twitter started trending,” Junior hyper-dramatized. “‘Donald Trump doesn’t understand that Jimmy Carter’s a nice guy.’ I go, no, no, no, you don’t understand is basic history. You’re totally missing stagflation. You’re missing the hostage crisis. You’re missing a disastrous presidency.”
Setting aside that his father’s presidency ended with a net three million fewer jobs than when he started (and 500,000 dead of a pandemic), whereas Carter’s four year term saw an increase of more than 10 million jobs.
Junior doesn’t understand what “stagflation” is; it’s just a word that sounds interesting to him. Stagflation is higher inflation without economic growth but with high unemployment.
Stagflation didn’t happen under Carter; it happened under Nixon/Ford. Ford oversaw a stagnant–actually a slightly shrinking–economy in 1974-75, and inflation was 12% in 1974. The US loss 378,000 net jobs in 1974 and gained just 361,000 in 1975. Carter didn’t have a single year of net job losses, but his successor, Ronald Reagan, saw 2.2 million job lost in his first two years. Carter also saw four years of economic growth–including three above 3.0%, something Daddy never achieved.
And as far as the hostage crisis is concerned, Biden doesn’t have one. In fact, he ended the hostage crisis that held our government captive for the previous four years.
