Tyson food announced the recall 4,250 tons of frozen cooked chicken products for possible listeria contamination, the US Department of Agriculture announced per a report from USA Today. The products are reported to be responsible for three illnesses and one death.
The packaged foods were sold commercially through retail locations as well as institutional outlets such as schools, hospitals, restaurants and nursing homes. They were sold under the Tyson brand as well as private labels for Jet’s Pizza, Casey’s General Store, Marco’s Pizza and Little Caesars. According to Tyson Foods, the affected products were produced at one plant located in Dexter, Missouri, between December 26th and April 13th, and they were stamped with the establishment code P-7089.
